Professor Dale Irvin and Professor Keith Russell worshipped at the CAC First in the Americas located at Cortelyou road in Brooklyn, USA on May 31, 2009. It was a devotional thanksgiving service in honor of Pastor Olugbenga Famojuro, an Associate Pastor of the church, who just graduated from the New York Theological Seminary of which Professor Irvin is the current President. Ten years ago, Professor Irvin was the project advisor of Rev. Adegoke Oyedeji, Ph.D., Senior Pastor and Chairman of First in the Americas DCC at the same college. Dr. Irvin is a professor of world Christianity who has a deep knowledge of the history of Christ Apostolic Church. He is featured in the introductory page of the "Great Revivals" book by Dr. Olowe. Professor Irvin himself has authored several books and has written many articles in different journals. He is an ordained Minister of the American Baptist Church. Dr. Irvin preached at the service from 2 Timothy 2: 14-26. He considers Paul and Timothy as good workers. Pastor Famojuro's middle name is Timothy. Dr. Irvin preached that a shepherd feeds his flock with spiritual food. He goes through testing trials, and must persevere before receiving the approval of God. Dr. Irvin assured the congregation that Pastor Famojuro has received the approval of God. He also read from Romans 5:4, James 1:12, and Ephesians 1:14. Not bothered by the occasional hymnal songs in Yoruba, Dr. Irvin himself gave a word in Yoruba.
Also present at the service were Rev. Adegoke Oyedeji, Pastor Adeyemi Browne, an Associate pastor of the Church, Pastor Abiodun Olowe, and Professor Keith Russell, the past President of the New York Theological Seminary.
