A. EXAMINATIONS:
(i) Continuous Assessment: There shall be continuous
assessment in each Course which shall carry twenty-five percent (25%) of the
marks allocated to the Course. These shall be made up of marks from at
least two exercises.
(ii) Semester Examination: There shall be a written
examination of 2-3 hours duration in each Course at the end of the Semester
after the course has been concluded.
(iii) Make up Examinations: A candidate who on account of
ill-health is unable to take final examination in any Course shall take the
examination at the next available opportunity. Such cases should be
reported to the Seminary Admission and Matriculation Board through the
Registrar.
B. 3-YEAR DIPLOMA PROGRAMME
(i) A student must pass at least 60 units before
graduation. (ii) A student must pass a minimum of 27 units and a maximum
of 36 units of Compulsory Courses before graduation. (iii) A student
must obtain pre-requisite pass in at least 15 units of required Courses before
graduation. (iv) 60 units shall be used for the computation of a
Diploma. A pass mark in any subject shall be 40% and above. A
prerequisite pass in any subject shall be between 30 and 39%.
For 3-year Diploma Programme the Compulsory Courses include at least 18 units
of University of Ibadan Compulsory Courses and 10 units of University of Ibadan
required Courses.
C. GRADING AND ASSESSMENT OF PERFORMANCE:
1. Grading System: (a) All courses shall be graded out of a
maximum of one hundred percent (100%). All marks obtained shall be
recorded in numerical scores and letter grades.
(b) Pass mark is fixed at forty percent (40%) and above. Any
candidate who scores less than 40% in any Course will be deemed to have failed
the Course.
(c) The overall performance of each candidate shall be determined by
means of the weighted grade point obtained by awarding Credit points in respect
of each Course multiplied by the number of units attached.
The Credit Points awards are as follows:- Mark Grade
Points 70% and above A 4 Credit points 60-69%
B 3 Credit points 50-59% C 2 Credit
points 40-49% D 1 Credit points
The Grade Point Average (G. P. A.) is the total of weighted grade points
divided by the total number of units for all the Courses.
(d) To obtain a Diploma in Theology or Certificate of Theology, each
candidate must also have a Grade Point Average of not less than 1.00.
D. RELEASE OF EXAMINATION RESULTS:
The final results of candidates for the award of Diploma/Certificate
shall be published by the Registrar after they might have been approved by the
Board of Governors/Senate.
