CHANGE OF COURSE

A. ADDING AND DROPPING OF COURSES:

 Students may be permitted, on the completion of the approved forms (obtainable from the Academic Affairs Office) after payment of two fifty Naira (N250) to add or delete courses not later than two weeks from the last day of registration.

B. REGULATIONS FOR CHANGE OF COURSE:

(i) Request for a change of Course can only be made at the end of the First Year and before the close of registration.  Official application forms for any change of Course may be obtained from the Academic Affairs Office.

(ii) No general announcement shall be made about students wanting to change Course.

(iii) Only those who have been asked to withdraw from one Faculty due to poor academic performance could change Courses from Second Year of the academic programme.

(iv) For a student to be qualified for a change of Course, the student must meet the cut-off point and the entry requirement for the proposed department as at the time of entering the Seminary.  The two Departments concerned should both agree on the change.  Again, a student from Diploma programme may prefer to transfer to the Certificate programme due to poor performance in the First year, such student may be considered.  More-so, a student from the Certificate Class may decide to change to the Diploma Class once ohe has obtained the entry requirements for the Diploma programme;; but he has to take all the required Courses before he could be graduated from the Seminary not minding the length of time it may take such student.

C. WITHDRAWAL AS A RESULT OF POOR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE:

(i) Any student whose Cumulative Point Average is less than 1.0 on two consecutive occasions shall be asked to withdraw from the particular Course.

(ii) Any student asked to withdraw during the First and/or Second year of a programme due to poor academic performance may be admitted to another programme such as from Diploma programme to Certificate programme.  Such students are to complete all Courses required for the Certificate of Theology.  This concession can only be allowed to change to a programme either from the Diploma programme to Certificate or from Certificate programme to Diploma programme will begin new programme of his choice.

D. WORKLOAD – MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM LOAD FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS:

(i) The minimum workload for a full-time student in Diploma class is 18 units per Semester in the First year.

(ii) In the Second year, each student shall take at least 17 Units in the First Semester and at least 17 Units in the First Semester and at least 16 units or more in the Second Semester respectively.

(iii) During the third year, each student shall take not less than 9 units in the First Semester and will be required to take at least 15 units in the Second Semester.

(iv) To qualify for an award of the Diploma in Theology a candidate must obtain a  minimum of 90 units with passes in all compulsory Courses, and must pass at least 9 units from Elective Courses.

(v) For the Certificate of Theology each student shall take at least 16 units in the First Semester and minimum of 18 units in the Second Semester.

(vi) In the Second year, each student for the Certificate of Theology shall take the minimum of 20 units in the First and Second Semesters of Part Two.

(vii) Candidates for the Certificate of Theology are to obtain a minimum of 78 units with passes in all Compulsory Courses and must pass at least 6 units from Elective Courses before they could be awarded with Certificate of Theology.
